A grandmother who donated her accumulated coins to the camp of Vice President Leni Robredo to help the victims of Typhoon Odette is now viral on social media.

It was just last year when Odette, the 15th tropical cyclone for 2021, devastated various parts of the country.

The typhoon wreaks havoc leaving more than 150 casualties as of posting. It is estimated that the damage left is worth millions in infrastructure and agriculture.

Among those who caught the attention of netizens because of her efforts to help the victims of the typhoon is a certain Lola Nancita Mabini, a resident of Cebu City.

In a Facebook post, “Cebuano Para kay Leni-Kiko” shared a video of Mabini personally handing over her coin bank containing coins she saved for months.

According to Mabini, she gave her savings to Robredo’s camp hoping that it will reach the victims of last year’s disaster.

One of the staff of Robredo’s camp helped in counting the coins and all in all it reached P704.50. Aside from that, she added another P1,000 from her own pocket.

Meanwhile, her act of kindness admired many.

“Thank you so much Lola for your golden heart. Your love of country has not faded even in your twilight years. Salute to you!” said a certain Fiery Leo.
