Pasig City will give financial aid of PHP 3,000 to PUV drivers.
Drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) — including jeepney drivers, tricycle drivers, and UV drivers — will be receiving financial assistance from the city of Pasig.
This, as the Philippines was currently under the state of calamity because of the global threat of coronavirus disease. Most of the cities and municipalities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were already implementing an enhanced community quarantine to help combat the spread of COVID-19.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, in his tweet, will give financial aid to the drivers of public utility vehicles who were affected by the enhanced community quarantine due to COVID-19.
A total of 18,500 PUV drivers — 5,800 jeepney drivers, 12,000 tricycle drivers, and 700 UV drivers — will receive PHP 3,000 each from the city, bringing the total allocated financial assistance to PHP 55,500,000.00.
The distribution of financial assistance from the city, according to Vico Sotto, will start on Monday, March 30, 2020.
