Here’s the response of NTF-ELCAC to Robredo’s message
NTF-ELCAC – Lorraine Badoy, the spokesperson for sectoral concerns of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict reacted to Vice President Leni Robredo’s statement that the agency should be abolished.
Earlier, Robredo, who is running for president in the 2022 elections, said that she wants the controversial anti-communist task force of President Rodrigo Duterte to be abolished.
According to her, she fears that the NTF-ELFAC will be used to launch a campaign similar to that of Oplan Tokhang.
Oplan Tokhang is the government’s anti-drug program which led to the killings of thousands of drug suspects.
But Lorraine Badoy, spokesperson of NTF-ELFAC disapproved the proposal of Robredo.
“You insulted quite a lot of public servants who are doing hard work, who are really putting real man hours and are making a big difference for our people,” said Badoy, who also serves as undersecretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).
“The vice president is not a true opposition but an obstructionist to the welfare of many people,” she added.
Aside from that, she also challenged Robredo to visit remote barangays in the Philippines that have benefited from the Barangay Development Program (BDP), which is one of the NTF-ELCAC programs as a solution to the rebels’ operation in the country.
The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) is a task force organized by the government of the Philippines to respond and raise awareness of the ongoing communist rebellion in the Philippines.
It was formed on December 4, 2018, pursuant to Executive Order No. 70 issued by President Duterte which institutionalized the government’s “whole-of-nation” approach in tackling the ongoing communist rebellion in the Philippines led by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and its armed wing, the New People’s Army (NPA).
