Here’s the reason why Mayor Vico Sotto is distancing from national politics
VICO SOTTO – The incumbent mayor of Pasig City revealed the reason why he’s distancing himself from national politics.
Aksyon Demokratiko, the political party of Vico where he sits as executive vice president, is endorsing Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso and cardiologist Willie Ong for president and vice president, respectively.
On the other hand, his uncle and Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, who’s also the chairman of Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), is vying for the position as vice president alongside Sen. Panfilo Lacson.
When Vico was asked about his views in the national politics, he said: “Basta nagpaalam ako sa lahat, nagpaalam ako sa party ko, nagpaalam ako sa tito ko, na hindi muna ako makikigulo sa national politics.”
While being the mayor of Pasig City, he cited that he has a lot to do and many problems to face at the local level.
He said: “Bakit ako makikisawsaw sa national politics e dito pa lang ang dami kong kailangan ayusin?”
Vico Sotto, one of the most popular Filipino politicians on the internet, refused to say who will be his presidential and vice-presidential bets in next year’s poll.
“Basta what you can expect from me is that I will continue to focus on my job here in the city. So araw-araw trabaho. Monday to Sunday nagtratrabaho tayo,” he said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
Meanwhile, Paulina, his younger sister earlier said she would support the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo.
Among those who will face off in the highest post, this election is former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, as well as Sen. Manny Pacquiao, and Sen. Bato dela Rosa.
