After 16 years, Kuya Kim will be leaving his TV Patrol colleagues
KUYA KIM – The Kapamilya weatherman bid goodbye to his colleagues in ABS-CBN primetime newscast, TV Patrol.
On Wednesday, September 29, took to the image-sharing platform, Instagram wherein he posted a group hug photo of him alongside news anchor Noli de Castro and showbiz news anchor Gretchen Fullido.
The photo was taken in the studio of the Kapamilya network’s nightly newscast program. His post was accompanied by a short caption: “No words”
His post was then flooded with comments from his colleagues and fellow celebrities.
Among those is veteran broadcaster Korina Sanchez who gave him words of encouragement.
“Many good things must end. But many other good things never do,” she wrote.
Korina had been with ABS-CBN for 30 years but she bid goodbye to her home network in October 2020 and transferred to TV5.
This is after the public affairs programs of ABS-CBN stopped airing following the non-renewal of the network’s franchise.
Donita Rose, his former co-host in Umagang Kay Ganda and Pinky Webb also left a message to Kuya Kim.
Kapamilya stars including It’s Showtime hosts Vhong Navarro, Amy Perez, and Jugs Jugueta also expressed their support for the new chapter of Kuya Kim’s career.
The ABS-CBN weatherman has yet to make an official statement regarding his rumored transfer to GMA-7.
But on Wednesday, September 29, he was spotted at GMA-7 and said to have started taping of his newest program there.
Kim Atienza or Kuya Kim whose real name is Alejandro Ilagan Atienza is currently a resident weather anchor in ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol’s segment, “Weather-Weather Lang”.
He is the eldest son of former Mayor of Manila and Buhay Party-List Representative Lito Atienza.
It was in 2008 when he started hosting Matanglawin. In 2009, he left the morning show, Umagang Kay Ganda to host the noontime program, It’s Showtime.
