6 Children of Peanut Vendor Finish Schooling – 4 in College, 2 for Vocational Courses

Six (6) children of a peanut vendor named Geronimo Tolibas were able to finish their studies.

Four of them are college graduates while two finished vocational courses.

Geronimo is a 57-year-old from Caloocan and for 15 years, he sells peanuts at the bus terminal to support the studies of his children.

Aside from selling peanuts, he also sells banana cue, sweet potato cue, siopao, hot cake, and hair ties on the street as well as quail eggs and boiled eggs.

He said: “Yun ang hanapbuhay, papalit-palit na lang kung ano ang ibebenta na kikita.”

The peanut vendor also opened up in an interview via PTV4 program, Rise and Shine Pilipinas, that he also became a pedicab driver and construction worker.

“Yung panganay ko po ay tapos ng TESDA [Technical Education and Skills Development Authority], pero may sarili po siyang konting tahian,” he said.

His second child finished Education and is now working as a teacher in Maypajo Elementary School.

His third child is a Psychology graduate who works as the head of the Human Resources department at a company in Tondo.

On the other hand, as per the article via PEP.ph, his fourth child is a Political Science graduate who is now working as an employee at the city hall in Caloocan.

“Panglima ko po, TESDA naman, Housekeeping… Tapos yung bunso ko po, Accountancy. Opisina rin po,” he added.

  1. Ang mga katulad niyang ama ang mga kahanga-hanga! Pinipilit itaguyod ang mga anak kahit gaano kahirap–ganun ang haligi ng tahanan. May bayag at buto…hindi lang basta gagawa ng anak tapos wala na. Saludo po ako sa inyo.

  2. Congratulations, to your family tatay! This is such an inspiring story of a father who worked and sacrificed his life for the benefit of his children’s future. His children made it as a proof of blessing and guidance from our loving Creator. And holds true with the line on “Education is the liberation from the bondage of ignorance and poverty.”
