Argentina jolted by 6.4 Magnitude earthquake
A powerful magnitude 6.4 earthquake hit Pocito, Argentina earlier today, January 19, 2020.
Earthquakes hit without prior signs/warnings most of the time. Recently, several places were struck off by quakes with different magnitudes.
Among the recent jolts that occurred around the world are the series of quakes in Argentina which include Magnitude 4.8, Magnitude 4.9, and Magnitude 5.3.
Meanwhile, based on the latest earthquake bulletin of the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the Magnitude 6.4 earthquake that struck off Pocito, Argentina earlier hit at a depth of 20 kilometers.
The epicenter of the Magnitude 6.4 earthquake was located at 29 km WSW of Pocito, Argentina.
No tsunami warning has been raised in Argentina following the strong earthquake according to the U.S. Tsunami Warning System.
Lumen stated that Magnitude 6 with an intensity of 7-9 earthquakes have “damage negligible in buildings of good design and construction; slight to moderate in well-built ordinary structures; considerable damage in poorly built or badly designed structures; some chimneys broken.”
