Xiaomi officially released a statement in response to being blacklisted by the US government along with other Chinese companies.
In a statement posted on its Twitter account, Xiaomi clarified that the company had been in compliance with the “relevant laws and regulations of jurisdictions where it conducts business”.
Also, Xiaomi reiterated that it provided products and services for commercial use and for civilians.
In addition, Xiaomi emphasized that the company wasn’t owned, controlled, or affiliated with the Chinese military and wasn’t a “Communist Chinese Military Company” as defined under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
Moreover, Xiaomi said that it would take an appropriate course of action in order to protect the interests of the company and its stakeholders.

Xiaomi’s announcement came after the Department of Defense of the United States added Xiaomi and 8 other Chinese companies to the list of qualifying entities prepared in response to Section 1237 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the fiscal year 1999.
However, Gizmochina reported that blacklisting Xiaomi was “very sudden and quite unexpected” given how the company was essentially a smartphone and an electronics company.
Prior to this, the Trump administration was focused on blacklisting Chinese companies from crucial industries — including Huawei and DJI.
