DTI To Manufacture 30 Million Washable Face Masks For Typhoon Victims

DTI was set to manufacture 30 million washable face masks for typhoon victims.

As part of the protection amidst the pandemic, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Thursday said that it would manufacture 30 million washable face masks for typhoon victims.

DTI To Manufacture

In a report on GMA Network’s “24 Oras”, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said that the department had began the distribution of face masks with the help of the Office of Civil Defense.

The other day nagpunta kami sa Marikina, apat na evacuation centers ‘yon. Nagdala kami ng mga face masks doon kasi nga alam natin na kung anuman ang mayroon sila, mga nabasa na ‘yon,” DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez said.

Lopez added that the DTI had already distributed over 1.5 billion face masks nationwide.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) said that it was continuously monitoring the situation in different evacuation centers in order to ensure that the minimum health protocols were observed amidst the health crisis.

Evacuees who had COVID-19-like symptoms were also required to undergo antigen testing in order to prevent the further spread of coronavirus disease.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that the most effective use of the antigen test was for those with symptoms because the antigen test can only detect a COVID-19 positive patient and a real negative based on a patient’s viral load.
