A male teenager in China admitted that he sold one of his own kidney just to buy an iPhone in 2011.
A Chinese teenager named Wang Shangkun confessed that he sold one of his kidneys on the black market for 220,000 yuan (RM136,679.71) in 2011. He used the money to buy an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4.
Shangkun joined an online chatroom and approached by illegal organ harvester. Eventually, the teenager underwent an illegal surgery in the central Hunan province for the removal of his right kidney, which has been delivered to an unknown recipient.
Eventually, the 17-year-old man during that time went home with expensive new gadgets, which leads her mother to get suspicious on where did he get the money to purchase those items.
Wang finally confessed that he sold his right kidney to earn instant money to buy an iPad 2 and an iPhone 4.
The Chinese man is now suffering from renal deficiency and he is required to undergo daily dialysis to clear his blood toxins. He developed an infection on his remaining kidney because of improper post-operation care a few months after selling his kidney.
The guy will now most probably be bedridden and need a kidney transplant.
