Arnel Pineda: “Iyong impact sa akin, talagang malaki”
Arnel Pineda revealed he had “almost zero” income because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Almost zero ang ano ko… I think, I’m, like, 95% affected,” confessed the lead singer of the band, Journey.
Concerts such as of Journey were stopped since mass gatherings are prohibited.
He continued: “Tapos, iyong mga show sa States this year and for next year, completely cancelled na.
“Baka mag-resume kami ng tour mga early 2022 pa. Iyong impact sa akin, talagang malaki.
“What more sa mga low-income na kapwa natin musikero, mga singer na nandito sa Pilipinas? Ganoon na nga kaliit, tapos, nawala pa. Mas matindi sa kanila.”
Despite the hardship caused by the pandemic, Arnel was inspired to remaster his composition entitled “This Christmas,” which he composed in 2013 or 2014.
He was a celebrity guest at a corporate event when he thought of composing a song based on the story of the youth choir he watched.
According to PEP.ph, the remastered version of “This Christmas” will be released on various digital platforms in November.
It has changed little in tone, but the lyrics are more meaningful because it is relevant in the suffering caused by the spread of COVID-19.
He said: “I got inspired na i-redo ito at i-release, kasi, the [past] seven months, nakikita ko sa balita, at pag lumalabas ako, nakikita ko iyong mga kababayan natin.
Arnel Pineda also shared that he’s inevitably saddened by the increase in other commodities even though the people are already struggling.
He is hoping that the pandemic will end soon so that everyone could move on.
