The Department of Health (DOH) had recorded 2,363 newly-reported coronavirus cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. of October 8, 2020.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #208 dated October 8, 2020, the Department of Health reported 2,363 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, wherein 1,869 out of 2,363 were recorded as “fresh” cases — reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days.
This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 331,869.
Since September 11, the Department of Health didn’t report the number of operational laboratories who successfully submitted their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System as well as the total number of operational laboratories. However, the Department of Health on Thursday reported that 20 operational laboratories failed to submit their data to the CDRS.

The Department of Health also reported 51,482 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #208 dated October 8, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of October 8 only: Metro Manila with 858 new cases, Cavite with 309 new cases, Batangas with 139 new cases, Rizal with 112 new cases, and Bulacan with 97 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 697 newly-reported recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 274,318. Also, the Department of Health recorded 114 newly-reported fatalities, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths to 6,069.
