LTO Takes Action Against Driver for Impersonation and Reckless Driving
A driver of a commuter van is now facing suspension after allegedly impersonating Land Transportation Office (LTO) personnel and committing several traffic violations on the road.
The LTO issued a show cause order after a viral video on TikTok showed a Toyota Hiace Commuter Van making an improper turn without the correct use of signal lights. The footage also showed the vehicle using unauthorized flashing lights while driving, which are prohibited under traffic regulations.
Authorities later confirmed that the driver has no affiliation with the LTO and was never authorized to represent or claim any connection with the agency. The identification presented by the driver was likewise found to be fake and not issued by the LTO.

In light of these incidents, the driver and the registered owner of the vehicle have been directed to appear before the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division on June 23. They are required to explain several alleged violations, including reckless driving, unauthorized use of flashing lights, and why the driver should not be disqualified from operating a motor vehicle due to unsafe conduct.
While the investigation is ongoing, the LTO has imposed a 90-day preventive suspension on the driver’s license. The vehicle involved has also been placed under alarm status, meaning it will be flagged and closely monitored in official records.

The LTO reiterated that such actions pose a serious risk to public safety, particularly when individuals falsely present themselves as government personnel while simultaneously violating traffic laws. The agency continues to remind motorists to strictly observe road regulations and refrain from using unauthorized identities or signaling devices that may mislead other road users.
