Ryzza Mae Dizon Shares the Childhood Experience That Motivated Her to Succeed
RYZZA MAE DIZON – The actress-television host revealed a memorable chapter of her childhood that became one of the biggest turning points in her life. Before achieving success in the entertainment industry, the actress and television host experienced hardship and financial struggles alongside her family. Growing up, she encountered situations that made her feel looked down upon because of their circumstances.
In an interview, Ryzza recalled an incident involving a wealthy neighbor whose large home stood out in their community. As a child, she was playing with other kids when she accidentally damaged a small part of an expensive decorative vase. Instead of receiving understanding, she was made to feel that the item was worth more than she was. The remark deeply hurt her and left a lasting impression on her at a very young age.
“Na-experience ko po noong bata po ako, meron pong kapitbahay kami na malaki ‘yong bahay. Tapos may balikbayan siyang apo na dumating,” she recalled, “Nakipaglaro po ako tapos medyo nasagi po ‘yong vase. Maliit lang po ‘yong nabasag. Nasabihan po ako na, ‘Mas mahal pa ‘yan sa buhay mo!’”
Rather than allowing the experience to break her spirit, Ryzza used it as motivation. The painful memory became one of the reasons she worked hard and remained determined to improve her life. She understood the challenges her family faced and became committed to proving that difficult circumstances would not define her future.
Her perseverance eventually paid off when she rose to fame after winning the Little Miss Philippines competition on the long-running variety show Eat Bulaga! in 2012. The opportunity opened doors in the entertainment industry and helped transform her family’s situation.
Years later, life presented an unexpected twist. The same house that once symbolized the painful experience of being belittled eventually became her own. After achieving success, Ryzza was able to purchase the property that belonged to the neighbor who had made her feel insignificant as a child.
