Robin Padilla Denies Causing Senate Lobby Tension Involving Jonvic Remulla

ROBIN PADILLA – The senator has denied accusations that he caused tension during a recent commotion at the Senate lobby involving Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla. The incident, which went viral on social media, showed a brief physical pushing and crowding situation during a Senate event related to a Blue Ribbon Committee hearing.

In a public statement, Padilla expressed respect for Remulla and clarified that there is no personal conflict between them. He said he has always shown respect to the secretary and has even acknowledged Remulla’s past achievements, especially during his time as governor of Cavite. He also emphasized that he had no intention of interfering with anyone’s authority or creating disorder.

Padilla, who identifies as Muslim, added that he did not start any confrontation in the Senate lobby. He said he is willing to let CCTV footage and media recordings speak for what truly happened, adding that he was among those who tried to calm the situation during the crowding incident. He also appealed for forgiveness from God and expressed that his intention was to maintain peace.

In another interview, the senator further explained that there is no personal issue between him and Remulla. He described the incident as a result of crowd control challenges, noting that many people were present, which led to pushing and confusion. According to him, no one used physical force to harm anyone, and the situation should not be interpreted as a serious conflict.

Padilla also stressed that both he and Remulla were simply performing their duties in a crowded and tense environment. He added that their working relationship remains respectful and friendly despite the misunderstanding.

Meanwhile, Remulla also clarified that he was not blocking anyone and was actually on his way home when the incident happened. He explained that the commotion occurred as people moved through a narrow hallway, which led to accidental pushing due to the crowd.
