Civil Engineer Passer Receives Job Offer from DPWH

DPWH – The Department of Public Works and Highways is set to hire the son of a jeepney driver who successfully passed the Civil Engineer Licensure Examination.

The DPWH reached out to the son of a jeepney driver in Davao City, Dave Recososa, after he passed the exam. Secretary Vince Dizon personally contacted his father, Edwin Recososa, about hiring his son to work in the agency. In celebration of his son’s achievement, Edwin offered free jeepney rides to passengers as a gesture of gratitude. Dave has already submitted his requirements to the DPWH office in Davao and is expected to start work next month.

Their story of sacrifice and determination was featured during the State of the Nation Address coverage and earned them recognition from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Region XI.

The November 2025 Civil Engineers Licensure Examination was held nationwide with 14,043 examinees. Out of this number, 4,268 passed, giving an overall passing rate of 30.39%, demonstrating the exam’s difficulty and competitiveness. The topnotcher was Jonathan Conrad Go Yu from the University of San Carlos, who earned the highest rating of 91.75%.

Several schools performed well, with many of their graduates passing, reflecting the quality of their training and preparation. Overall, the results showed how much effort, dedication, and hard work were needed to succeed and take one step closer to becoming a licensed civil engineer.

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways is a government agency in the Philippines responsible for planning, building, and maintaining roads, bridges, flood control systems, and other public infrastructure projects. It also works to improve transportation, safety, and connectivity nationwide by managing national highways and other essential public works.
