Press Officer of Malacañang Assures Students & Teachers that DepEd Sec. Angara Works
Malacañang claimed that Department of Education Secretary Sonny Angara is cleaning up the alleged mess left by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
Amid the criticisms over her frequent overseas trips, the OVP confirmed the Kuwait travel of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte but clarified that it is “authorized”. Her office also assured the public that they made sure that her trip does not violate any law and is in line with her mandate and obligations to the people.

The office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also said that the Vice President is not using public funds in “all” her trips abroad. Previously, Duterte herself asserted that she uses her own money in her personal trips. She even claimed that she continues to work even when she is on a personal trip abroad. However, she declined to the challenge issued by Malacañang to submit reports of her work in other countries.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte recently claimed that she frequently goes abroad because of the “frustrated” Filipino communities in other countries. According to her, many Pinoys in other countries are filled with frustration over what is happening in the Philippines.
Malacañang hit back at Duterte saying that her travels are not the solution if the country has a problem. Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro also said that it is not mandated by the Constitution that the Vice President will ruin the reputation of the Chief Executive and call for his ouster.
During recent trip to Kuwait, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte graced the Hakbang ng Maisug event. She gave a speech wherein Vice Pres. Duterte made her claim that the Philippine education allegedly lags behind when it comes to modernization. According to her, the country is allegedly stuck in “paper and pencil”.
The Vice President also compared that three-year-old kids in other countries already know how to read while some high school students in the Philippines still do not know how to read. However, her remarks earned criticisms from many people as she has also served as the secretary of the Department of Education for around two (2) years.
Recently, Malacañang broke its silence on the criticisms of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte against the Philippine education. Based on a post on Inquirer’s social media page, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro assured the students, the teachers, and the teaching staff that DepEd Sec. Sonny Angara is doing the work.

According to the Malacañang press officer, DepEd Sec. Sonny Angara is cleaning the mess left behind by former DepEd Sec. and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. She stressed that the complaints of the Vice President should have been solved during her term as the education secretary.
“Huwag pong mag-alala mga mag-aaral, mga guro, at mga teaching staff. Ang ating DepEd Secretary Angara ay nililinis naman kung ano man ang dumi na naiwan nung nakaraan,” Castro said.

Based on the post, the Malacañang press official also reacted to Duterte’s claim that the country’s education allegedly lags behind when it comes to modernization. Castro stressed the technology devices secured to digitize the teaching of the students in schools.
“Kung modernisasyon lamang ang pinag-uusapan natin ‘yung 1,000 rather 1,000,5000 na mga gadgets, laptops, at ibang mga teaching materials ay ginawan naman po ng paraan ni Secretary Angara na nakabinbin lamang noon pa lamang 2020 na hindi nagamit. So 2024 lamang ito nasasaayos ni Secretary Angara,” the Palace official said.
From Kuwait, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte made a quick stop in Paris, France before mga gadgets, laptops, at ibang mga teaching materials ay ginawan naman po ng paraan ni Secretary Angara na nakabinbin lamang noon pa lamang 2020 na hindi nagamit. So 2024 lamang ito nasasaayos ni Secretary Angara,” the Palace official said.
