Ai Ai Delas Alas Impressed by Mayor Isko’s Efforts to Clean Divisoria
AI AI DELAS ALAS – The Kapuso comedy concert queen showed her appreciation for the much cleaner streets and sidewalks of Divisoria in Manila. Together with her son Sancho Vito, Ai Ai personally saw the changes after the area was cleaned up under the leadership of returning Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, also known as “Yorme Isko.”
In a lighthearted Instagram post, Ai Ai shared how impressed she was, even joking that before Yorme’s leadership, Divisoria was like the “Duminican Republic”—a fun wordplay on how messy it used to be. Her son chimed in too, saying, “Iba ‘yung Yorme,” recognizing the big improvement.
On July 8, Mayor Isko also posted photos of the newly cleaned areas, especially along Recto Avenue. He stressed how important it is to keep public spaces clean and accessible, calling Divisoria one of Manila’s “non-negotiable areas” when it comes to cleanliness.
“Ibalik na po natin ang kalsada sa mga taga-Lungsod ng Maynila,” Mayor Isko said, showing his continued dedication to making the city better for everyone.
After returning to office, Mayor Isko Moreno announced plans to ask the Manila City Council to declare a state of health emergency due to the city’s growing garbage problem. The situation worsened after waste contractors Phileco and Metrowaste backed out of their agreements, leading to uncollected trash and sanitation concerns.
To respond quickly, Mayor Isko tapped Leonel Waste Management, a former service provider, to help clear the garbage free of charge. He also urged barangay officials to take immediate action by cleaning up clogged canals and restoring order in their communities, emphasizing the need for teamwork to bring back cleanliness and public safety to Manila.
