Malacañang said Vice President Sara Duterte allegedly has to report to the Philippines what she did in Australia.

Vice Pres. Duterte is now back in the Philippines from Melbourne, Australia where she met with the Filipino community in the foreign country. The Vice President joined the rally that called for the immediate release of her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

After the 2025 Midterm Elections, Duterte flew to Doha, Qatar then went to The Hague, Netherlands for scheduled visits to former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. After spending her birthday week in The Hague, the Vice President graced the Philippine Independence Day celebration in Malaysia with senators Imee Marcos and Robin Padilla.

At the event, Sen. Robin Padilla even called Vice Pres. Sara Duterte as the “next president of the Philippines”. The Senator also claimed that he will not a politician in the 2028 Elections. According to him, he will be the campaign manager of Vice Pres. Duterte and Sen. Imee Marcos.

The frequent overseas trips of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte hooked the attention of many people as well as Malacañang. Previously, the Palace stressed that it is the choice of the Vice President if she chooses to be busy in her travels abroad.

When asked about the possible violation committed by Duterte with her foreign travels, Palace press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro claimed that the Vice President may be committing a violation against her obligations to the people. The Malacañang official also said that the people are seeing what the elected official is doing.

In her reaction to the remarks of the Palace, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte insisted that she spends her own money in her person trips abroad. The Vice President stressed that she does not use public funds when her trip abroad is personal but she continues to work.

Recently, Malacañang spoke anew on the claim of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte about her travels abroad. Based on a report on PhilStar, Palace press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said the Vice President has to report to the country what she did in Australia.

“She said she is working as the vice president and went out of the country. She now has to report to the nation what she did in Australia, the results of the performance of her official functions in Australia,” she expressed.

Castro also said that Duterte allegedly has to report to the people who were with her in her trips abroad when if she shouldered the costs of her companions in her overseas trips. Based on the report, the Malacañang official also said that the foreign travels of the Vice President should be beneficial to the nation.

“If that is a private or personal trip, she does not need to report what she did. So her trips to other countries should have results that are good for the country,” the Malacañang official said.

Recently, in an interview with the Russian media, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she is the “frontrunner in the presidential race in 2028”, thus, the Marcos Jr. administration allegedly wants her eliminated.
