Why Abdul Raman Let His Brother Go
ABDUL RAMAN – The actor made a tough but heartfelt decision: he sent his 15-year-old brother, who has high-functioning autism, to live with their estranged father. The move happened two months ago and, while difficult, Abdul believes it was for the best.
Abdul, a Filipino-Egyptian talent who rose to fame in StarStruck Season 7 in 2019, has been the family’s main provider since their mother suffered a stroke in 2021 and became bedridden. For years, Abdul took on the roles of caregiver and breadwinner at just 22 years old, looking after both his mother and younger brother.
Letting his brother go wasn’t easy, but Abdul said their father—who now lives in Oman—can offer better support, especially when it comes to education. He admits it’s painful to be apart, but he remains hopeful that they will reunite someday.

For now, Abdul continues to care for their mother on his own. In October 2024, he left Sparkle GMA Artist Center and is now managing himself as a freelance actor. While he’s no longer part of regular TV shows, he remains active in commercials, which help cover daily expenses and his mother’s medical needs.
He also started a small business called Aboodybakes, where he personally makes and sells homemade sweets online. Abdul says he doesn’t want to be pitied—he’s working hard to earn a living while continuing to chase his dreams.

Despite the challenges, Abdul remains hopeful. He’s grateful for the opportunities that come his way and believes that with perseverance and faith, success will follow. Above all, his love for his family keeps him moving forward, trusting that better days are still to come.
Meanwhile, Abdul Raman is a Filipino–Egyptian actor and former StarStruck Season 7 finalist. He gained recognition through GMA Network shows like Legal Wives and Raising Mamay.
