Mayor Vico Was “Pressured” to Review by the Tarp
VICO SOTTO – The mayor of Pasig City brought laughter online after sharing a photo of a tarpaulin featuring his image, styled like a proud graduate or board passer. The tarp was seen outside a resident’s home, showing him smiling confidently—almost as if he had just passed an exam.
Mayor Vico jokingly called out the person who made the tarp, saying it pressured him to review. “HUY SINONG NAGPAGAWA NITO BAT GANYAN?? NAPRESSURE AKONG MAG-REVIEW (emojis),” he wrote in the caption.
The post quickly went viral, drawing thousands of reactions and comments. Netizens filled the comment section with jokes and support. Some shared that Pasig residents often make tarpaulins to show appreciation for the mayor.

Meanwhile, Vico Sotto has been the current Mayor of Pasig City since June 30, 2019. He is the son of TV personalities Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes. A graduate of Ateneo de Manila University with a master’s degree in Public Management, Vico first entered politics as a Pasig City councilor in 2016.
He became widely known for his anti-corruption stance, transparent governance, and data-driven policies. In 2021, the U.S. State Department recognized him with the International Anticorruption Champions Award. Vico’s administration emphasizes universal healthcare, accessible housing, education, and public consultation. He is known for rejecting political gimmicks, celebrity-style politics, and implementing reforms, such as the Pasig Transparency Mechanism Ordinance.

Before entering politics, Vico taught social science and was awarded the YSEALI Fellowship, completing his residency in Iowa, USA. His rise to mayor ended the 27-year rule of the Eusebio political dynasty in Pasig. He ran independently and was affiliated with Aksyon Demokratiko from 2018 to 2022. During the pandemic, he gained praise for his swift, evidence-based responses to COVID-19.
