Julia Barretto Breaks Silence on Camiguin Island Closure Issue

Julia Barretto Denies Ordering Mantigue Island Shutdown

JULIA BARRETTO – The actress has addressed accusations that she was responsible for the temporary closure of Mantigue Island in Camiguin due to a photo and video shoot. She is now consulting with her legal team to take action against what she calls false and misleading claims spread by a certain Nikka Kho.

Kho took to social media to express her frustration over the alleged inconvenience caused by Julia’s team. She claimed that her well-planned trip with friends was disrupted because Mantigue Island was closed for a celebrity shoot without prior public notice. According to her, they were told the island would reopen at noon, but it remained inaccessible past 1 PM, affecting tourists with scheduled flights and other plans.

In her post, Kho criticized both the local government of Camiguin and Julia’s production team for prioritizing a celebrity over paying visitors. She called the situation “selfish and entitled” and urged authorities to implement better policies to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Julia, however, did not leave these accusations overlooked. On Wednesday, March 12, she defended herself through a Facebook post, clarifying that she had no involvement in any decisions regarding area closures. She explained that her visit from March 1-3 was part of a tourism collaboration with Camiguin’s local government to promote the island’s culture and natural beauty.

The actress firmly denied Kho’s claims, stating that all arrangements were handled by local authorities. She emphasized that assuming she had the power to order such closures was both unfair and misleading. Julia also revealed that a manipulated TikTok video with fake audio had been circulating to misrepresent her, which she found unacceptable.

Taking the matter seriously, Julia is now seeking legal advice to address the spread of false information. She ended her statement with a direct message to Kho, urging her to consider the consequences of spreading misinformation, as words have real impact.
