This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today.
According to its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #167 dated August 28, 2020, the Department of Health reported 3,999 newly-reported COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 209,544.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Friday were reported based on the total tests done by 101 out of 110 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 3,275 out of 3,999 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days — from August 15 to 28.

In addition, the Department of Health reported 71,745 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #167 dated August 28, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 28 only: Metro Manila with 2,097 new cases, Laguna with 178 new cases, Cavite with 138 new cases, Batangas with 132 new cases, and Cebu with 125 new cases.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health had recorded 510 newly-reported recoveries and 91 newly-reported fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 134,474 and total coronavirus deaths to 3,325.
