ANGELO MESINA – A member of the local band Lola Amour who plays the trumpet is now a licensed doctor.
Lola Amour is a band known for its dynamic blend of alternative rock, funk, pop, and jazz fusion. Formed in 2013 in Muntinlupa, Metro Manila, the group emerged from two rival high school bands, “Sinigang na Baboy” and “Decaf.” The band’s lineup features Pio Dumayas on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Zoe Gonzales on lead guitar, Angelo Mesina on trumpet, David Yuhico on keyboards, Jeff Abueg on saxophone, Raffy Perez on drums, and Manu Dumayas on bass, trumpet, and backing vocals.
Lola Amour gained attention in 2017 by winning the Wanderband competition and subsequently released their debut EP, Don’t Look Back. Their single “Pwede Ba” became a fan favorite, exploring themes of love and separation. The band continued to grow, collaborating with artists like Al James and Clara Benin, and performing at major events like the Wanderland Music and Arts Festival.
In 2023, their song “Raining in Manila” achieved significant success, becoming a signature hit and earning international attention. Artists like Jake of Enhypen and BamBam covered the song, and they even performed it with Chris Martin of Coldplay. This song marked a turning point, propelling them to wider recognition.
Meanwhile, Angelo Mesina, the trumpet player for Lola Amour, is now a licensed doctor. The band shared the news on Facebook, posting a childhood photo of Angelo with the caption, “Noon pa, gusto ko na maging doctor,” along with a screenshot of his name on the list of board exam passers.
