The Truth About Alfred Vargas FAMAS Best Actor Award
ALFRED VARGAS – The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) awardee faced allegations of purchasing his Best Actor award for the film “Pieta.”
Alfred vehemently denied these claims during a thanksgiving event on June 6, 2024, asserting that his trophy was earned through hard work and dedication. Despite winning the award, Alfred acknowledged that his co-stars Nora Aunor, Gina Alajar, and Jaclyn Jose played crucial roles in his success, admitting to feeling pressured while acting alongside such acclaimed talents.
The actor-politician emphasized the importance of producing quality films over commercial success, stating that winning acting awards brought him additional happiness and meaning to his career. While his win did not affect box office earnings, Alfred expressed optimism that “Pieta” would attract Noranian fans, contributing to its success. Looking ahead, Alfred expressed interest in working with other talented actors like Piolo Pascual and hinted at a future family-centered drama project.
Regarding his past roles in provocative films, Alfred jokingly dismissed the idea, attributing those experiences to his youth. Instead, he focused on his upcoming projects, including the Kapuso afternoon drama series “Forever Young,” where he stars alongside Euwenn Mikaell, Nadine Samonte, Eula Valdes, and others.
“Una, hindi po totoo yun. Tapos pangalawa, sa lahat po ng mga nakapanood ng Pieta, malalaman nila. So, manood sila ng Pieta,” he said. “Mabigat itong trophy. Every inch, every gram nito, pinaghirapan natin. Pinaghirapan po natin kaya proud na proud po tayo,” he added.
