Teachers barter plants for school supplies
Teachers of Campaasan Elementary School in Oriental Mindoro are bartering plants for school supplies to be used by their students in the opening of classes.
Recently, they launched a campaign called “Halaman Ko, Barter Mo,” which aims to trade printing supplies, activity sheets, health kits and to name a few.
It was an idea of principal Lucy Ferranco, who spearhead the launching of the project via her online store last July 13.
“Ang idea po ay galing talaga sa akin. Mahilig talaga ako sa halamanan and online seller din po ako kaya gamay ko iyong barteran,” she said in an interview with DZMM.
“So kinausap ko iyong aking mga guro, sobrang sisipag po ng mga guro ko dito, mga co-teachers ko,” she continued.
“Why not, kako, isip tayo ng paraan na we will be spreading positivity pero hindi halata na humihingi dahil alam namin na walang ligtas sa pandemyang ito, lahat apektado…,” she added.

Like the usual barter/trade, the teachers are exchanging their plants without the involvement of money.
The traded items will benefit the 315 students of the said school.
According to the principal, the support their school has received is outpouring.
