Paolo Contis Shares How He Handles Gay Issues
PAOLO CONTIS – The actor and television host shared how he dealt with “gay issues” or rumors questioning his orientation.
Paolo is an actor, host, singer, and comedian of Italian descent. His career began as a child actor on the ABS-CBN show Ang TV during the 1990s. Transitioning to GMA Network, he became a prominent figure for two decades, winning several acting awards.
Contis joined Star Circle (now Star Magic) Batch 3 in 1996 and became a prominent figure in youth-oriented dramas like Tabing Ilog. In 2004, he moved to GMA Network, where he took on more mature roles, including supporting, comic, and antagonist roles in various dramas and shows.
Over the years, Contis has appeared in numerous TV shows and films, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Notable projects include Darna, Show Me Da Manny, Little Star, and My Beloved. In 2020, his movies Ang Pangarap kong Holdap and Through Night and Day became popular on Netflix, despite not performing well at the box office upon their initial release in 2018.
In 2021, he starred in the film A Faraway Land alongside Yen Santos. In 2023, Contis was named one of the new hosts of the revamped show Tahanang Pinakamasaya after a dispute between the original hosts and the management of TAPE Inc. Apparently, the show bid goodbye.
During the “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Wednesday, Boy Abunda asked his guest stars Paolo Contis and Patrick Garcia how they handled “gay issues” or rumors questioning their orientation.
For Patrick, he simply ignored and let them pass. According to him, it didn’t escalate since it was only mentioned in one write-up before. As for Paolo, he said there were none, and he hoped that would be the only rumor about him.
“Ikaw ba, pinagdaanan mo ‘yon Pao?” Boy asked. “Wala nga eh, sana nga ‘yon na lang ang natsismis sa ‘kin eh!” In the same interview, Patrick revealed that Anne Curtis was the first person to reject him in showbiz, which he disclosed for the first time publicly.
