DOH reported almost 7,000 new coronavirus cases in the Philippines.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reported almost 7,000 new coronavirus cases in the Philippines, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to over 136,000.
This, as the Department of Health gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of 4:00 p.m. today, August 10, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #149 dated August 10, 2020, the Department of Health reported 6,958 new COVID-19 cases, which brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 136,638.
In addition, the Department of Health stated that the newly-confirmed cases on Monday were reported based on the total tests done by 74 out of 99 current operational laboratories. Moreover, 5,789 out of 6,958 newly-reported cases occurred within the recent 14 days – from July 28 to August 10.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health reported 633 new recoveries and 24 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 68,159 and total coronavirus deaths to 2,293.
In addition, the Department of Health reported 66,186 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #149 dated August 10, 2020.
Moreover, the Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of August 10 only: Metro Manila with 4,163 new cases, Laguna with 400 new cases, Rizal with 363 new cases, Cavite with 312 new cases, and Bulacan with 178 new cases.
