The Department of Health (DOH) gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of today, July 27, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #135 dated July 27, 2020, the Department of Health reported 1,657 new coronavirus cases. This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 82,040.
However, the Department of Health didn’t report the fresh and late cases due to President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address (SONA). Instead, the DOH reported that the newly-confirmed cases on Monday were reported based on the total tests done by 59 out of 90 current operational laboratories.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 359 new recoveries and 16 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 26,446 and total coronavirus deaths to 1,945.
Moreover, the Department of Health reported 53,649 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #135 dated July 27, 2020.
The Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of new coronavirus cases as of July 27 only: Metro Manila with 1,017 new cases, Laguna with 89 new cases, Cavite with 38 new cases, Cebu with 31 new cases, and Rizal with 31 new cases.
