BAYANI FERNANDO – The former Marikina City mayor and former MMDA chairman has passed away at the age of 77.

Through social media posts, many barangays in Marikina expressed their sadness at his untimely death. Fernando also served as the representative for Marikina’s 1st congressional district from 2016 to 2022. He was the son of the late Marikina Mayor Gil Fernando, who was the third mayor of the city. Bayani followed in his father’s footsteps, serving as Marikina City mayor from 1992 to 2001. He was born on July 25, 1946.

Fernando, a professional Mechanical Engineer, founded the BF Group of Companies, which encompasses construction, steel, manufacturing, and real estate.
