More charges have been filed against Awra Briguela over the bar incident
AWRA BRIGUELA – The actor-comedian is facing three additional charges filed at the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office over the commotion at The Bolthole Bar in Poblacion, Makati City, last month.
The complaints were filed by the lawyer of Mark Christian Ravana, the man whom Awra allegedly had an altercation with at the bar. In a statement to the media on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, Atty. Nick Nangit said, “We are filing, in fact we already filed, three additional cases against Awra Briguela.”
The three additional complaints filed against him are as follows: violations of Article 283 (light threats) under the Revised Penal Code, violation of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) under the RPC, and Violation of Section 11(c) in relation to Section 11(a) of the Safe Space Act (or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Law).
The lawyer further stated that they have a “very strong case” against Awra. Ravana, on the other hand, refuted the circulating social media rumor that they have reconciled. He said, “Hindi po totoo ‘yun na nagkaayos kami. Wala pong lumapit sa akin.”
Ravana clarified that he’s open to any discussion outside the court. He said, “Willing naman po kami pero sa ngayon, parang kami pa ‘yung — kami na nga ‘yung biktima, kami pa ‘yung talagang nadedehado dito sa pangyayaring ito. Pero tingnan na lang po natin.”
Aside from the three new complaints, Awra Briguela is already facing charges of slight physical injuries and simple disobedience to a person in authority. The actor-comedian was released on July 1, 2023, from the Makati Custodial Jail after Awra posted bail amounting to six thousand pesos.
