Sen. Grace Poe raised some questions about the new logo of PAGCOR
PAGCOR NEW LOGO – Senator Grace Poe is questioning whether the recently adopted logo of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, which has received mixed reactions from the public, went through the proper bidding process. Valued at P3 million, the logo has drawn comparisons to other logos such as that of Petron and e-sabong, raising concerns among netizens.
While emphasizing the importance of providing equal business opportunities, Senator Poe highlights the need to ensure that the entity contracted by PAGCOR is registered and an active taxpayer.
“Because it’s (PAGCOR) a government agency, it should have [undergone] the proper bidding process. Ganyan ba talaga kamahal para gumawa ng bagong logo? Saan ba pwedeng mapunta ang P3 million na yun… Ano ba yung bidding? Sino ba yung nakisali dyan? I think, parang gawin lang yan sa computer, hindi ba?” she said according to ABS-CBN News.
According to the senator, as a government agency, PAGCOR should have followed the appropriate bidding procedures. Senator Poe wonders if the cost of creating a new logo is truly justified and questions where the P3 million budget could have been allocated instead. She also expresses skepticism about the bidding process, wondering how complex it could be to design a logo using a computer.
Senator Poe points out that a budget of P3 million is often equivalent to the cost of an expensive painting or hiring a highly skilled artist to create a design. While acknowledging the possibility that the contractors complied with government requirements, she still finds the amount allocated for the logo excessive. In a time when resources are scarce, the senator believes that the government should exercise prudence in spending its funds, prioritizing projects of greater importance. She reiterates her desire to understand the details of the bidding process.
