Police Authorities Arrest Online Seller For Selling COVID-19 Rapid Test Kits
A certain online seller identified as Jemeun Cenon has been arrested by the police authorities for selling COVID-19 test kits in Cebu City.
The coronavirus disease continues to spread in various countries all around the world but the health authorities are doing their best to fight the virus. Health personnel is using test kits to determine whether patients are infected or not.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) OIC Eric Distor reported that Jemeun Cenon is selling rapid test kits for coronavirus disease on Facebook. The authorities recovered 134 boxes of rapid test kits worth P3, 484,000.
The suspect has been arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by the NBI-Central Visayas Regional Office (NBI-CEVRO), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The NBI officer-in-charge reported that the entrapment operation has been launched after 312nd Air Intelligence and Security Squadron of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) reported the illegal selling of COVID-19 test kits amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The NBI also reminded the sellers that selling of COVID-19 rapid test kit to the public is strictly prohibited, according to the Republic Act 9711 o Food and Drug Administration Act.
