Health workers infected with COVID-19 reaches 3,122
The Department of Health announced that 3,122 health workers, doctors, and nurses have already been infected with coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
On Sunday, the country’s health department noted that there were 253 new cases among the health workers recorded from June 14-20.
In the said record, recoveries remained at 396 while fatalities are still at 33.
DOH last reported the data of health workers infected with COVID-19 on June 13- which coincide with the revision of the daily situationer report with two classifications; fresh and late cases.
As of posting, there are 854 active COVID-19 cases among health workers. However, no data has been released with regards to the number of mild and severe cases.
Here’s a breakdown of infected health workers:
- Nurses – 1,126
- Doctors – 811
- Nursing Attendants – 212
- Medical Technologists – 122
- Radiologic Technologists – 62
- Midwives – 45
- Respiratory Therapists – 33
- Pharmacists – 21
On the other hand, out of 3,122 health workers, there are also non-medical staff infected with COVID-19.
- Administrative Staff – 201
- Utility Staff – 94
- Dietary Staff – 49
- Drivers – 35
- Barangay Health Workers – 29
- Security Guards – 19
- Caregivers – 12
Based on the report of ABS-CBN News, 1 out of 10 cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines are health workers.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health announced via its latest bulletin that the Philippines has recorded 653 additional cases (415- fresh and 238- late cases), 243 new recoveries, and 19 new deaths as of Thursday, June 18, 2020.
The Philippines has now a total of 30,052 confirmed cases with 7,893 recoveries and 1,169 deaths.
