Here’s the tribute message of Leni Robredo to Lualhati Bautista
TRIBUTE MESSAGE – The former Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines took to social media wherein she paid a tribute to the late novelist Lualhati Bautista.
Bautista, a writer, novelist, liberal activist and political critic who’s famous for novels Dekada ’70; Bata, Bata, Pa’no Ka Ginawa?; and ‘GAPÔ died at her home on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the age of 77.
Bautista was born on December 2, 1945, in Tondo, Manila to Esteban Bautista and Gloria Torres. She graduated from Emilio Jacinto Elementary School in 1958 and Torres High School in 1962.
She was a journalism student at the Lyceum of the Philippines, but she left since she always wanted to be a writer. Her first short story, “Katugon ng Damdamin,” was published in Liwayway magazine, which launched her writing career.
Her death saddened many and among those who express grief in her sudden passing is former Vice President Leni Robredo. Bautista was among those who supported the candidacy of Robredo in the presidential race last election.
On Facebook, she posted a photo of Lualhati Bautista with the caption: “Isang pagpupugay kay Lualhati Bautista. Maraming salamat, Ma’am, sa pagbabahagi ng sarili, husay, at tapang sa pamamagitan ng inyong buhay at mga akda. Malaking karangalan po na matanggap ang inyong suporta.”
Apart from being a writer, she’s also an influential personality online and is well-known for her commentaries about different issues in the country, particularly politics.
