Mel Tiangco had offers to join politics according to his son Wency Cornejo
WENCY CORNEJO – The singer revealed that his mom, veteran Kapuso broadcaster Mel Tiangco had offers to join politics.
Wency rose to fame as the vocalist of the Filipino rock band, AfterImage, which was active in the late 80s and 1990s. The band was behind the commercially popular songs “Habang May Buhay”, “Next in Line”, and “Mangarap Ka”.
He’s currently gearing up for his upcoming Valentine concert dubbed as “All Heart.” In a press conference, he revealed that his mom had offers to join politics.
“My mom has been offered a lot. Talagang lapitin kumbaga or something like that, but she does not want to get involved in politics,”he said. “It’s very, very magulo, e, she says. Especially at her age, she doesn’t want to get stressed out,” he added.
According to him, they don’t want their mom to get stressed. He noted that at her age, she needs to be resting at the same time enjoying the fruits of her labor.
Wency Cornejo has second-degree cousins who are into politics, namely: Navotas Mayor John Reynald Tiangco and Navotas District Representative Tobias “Toby” Reynald Tiangco. If given a chance to enter the world of politics, he said: “No, definitely not me. I have no patience—pangit man pakinggan ‘to—I don’t like dealing with people.”
Meanwhile, a lot of Filipino celebrities have ventured into politics. Among them were: Jason Abalos, Nash Aguas, Jestoni Alarcon, Arjo Atayde, Dingdong Avanzado, Herbert Bautista, Angelika Dela Cruz, Jinggoy Estrada, Richard Gomez, Jhong Hilario, Robin Padilla, Raffy Tulfo and to name a few.
