Sharon Cuneta Defends Kiko Pangilinan Amid Corruption Accusations
SHARON CUNETA – The actress expressed strong anger over allegations linking her husband, Senator Kiko Pangilinan, to an alleged corruption issue involving flood control projects.
The accusation claimed that Pangilinan was among lawmakers who supposedly received around P70 million connected to irregular flood control funds. The claim was supported by photos presented during a press conference organized by former Anakalusugan party-list Rep. Mike Defensor on June 16. The images allegedly showed Pangilinan with staff connected to former congressman Zaldy Co and were used to suggest that a suitcase containing money was handed over during a meeting at a resort owned by Co.
Sharon immediately rejected the accusations through her social media accounts, calling the claims completely false and unfair. She insisted that the event being referred to actually took place in Marawi, where she and her family visited local officials to express gratitude for their support for her husband. She strongly denied that any suitcase or money exchange ever happened during the trip, stressing that the allegations were fabricated and malicious.

She also expressed frustration over what she described as a deliberate attempt to damage their reputation, saying that everything they have was earned through hard work. Sharon added that while she was working at the time the issue broke out, she would not remain silent against what she believes are lies. She further condemned those behind the accusations and left the matter to divine judgment, saying truth will ultimately prevail.
Senator Kiko Pangilinan also issued a formal response through his social media account. He dismissed the allegations as baseless, saying they rely only on vague claims and misleading narratives. He explained that the accusations were meant to damage his role as chair of a Senate subcommittee investigating flood control irregularities.

He firmly denied any involvement in illegal activities and said there is no credible evidence behind the claims. Pangilinan also reacted strongly to the inclusion of his family in the issue, warning that those responsible for spreading false accusations would face legal consequences. He added that the allegations are not only false but also harmful to public trust.
To support his statement, the senator shared a video showing his visit to Lanao del Sur on July 18, 2025, where he held a forum with farmers in Marawi City.
