Bianca Manalo Congratulates Ex-Boyfriend Win Gatchalian, Draws Attention Online
BIANCA MANALO – The actress and former beauty queen received mixed reactions online after publicly congratulating her former boyfriend, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, on his appointment as the new Senate President.
Gatchalian officially assumed the position on June 17, 2026, following a special session called by the government for both houses of Congress. As Senate President, he now holds one of the highest-ranking positions in the country, next only to the President and Vice President in the line of leadership.
Shortly after the announcement, Bianca shared a message on Instagram expressing how proud she was of Gatchalian’s achievement. She described his appointment as well-deserved and expressed her belief that his leadership is important for the country at this time. Gatchalian later reposted her message on his own Instagram account.
However, Bianca’s public gesture quickly became a topic of discussion among netizens. Some social media users criticized her, with several suggesting that she might be trying to reconnect with the senator following their reported breakup. Others made jokes and speculated about Gatchalian’s current personal life. Negative comments also appeared on some of the senator’s social media posts.
Earlier this year, Gatchalian revealed in an interview that he was single and described his love life as practically nonexistent, which many viewed as confirmation that he and Bianca had already ended their relationship.
Bianca has also faced public controversies in recent years. In 2023, she became involved in rumors linking her to actor Rob Gomez after alleged screenshots of private conversations surfaced online. She denied the claims and maintained that the accusations had no basis.
More recently, her name was mentioned in reports surrounding the breakup of Miss Universe Philippines 2009 Celeste Cortesi and businessman Jonathan Sterling. Some reports alleged that Bianca was involved as a third party. However, these claims were strongly denied by her management team, which released an official statement rejecting the allegations.
Despite the criticism and speculation, neither Bianca nor Gatchalian has publicly addressed the online reactions regarding her congratulatory message.
