Kiko Pangilinan Respects Leni Robredo’s Decision Not to Run in 2028

Leni Robredo Steps Back from 2028 Race, Kiko Pangilinan Reacts

KIKO PANGILINAN – The senator expressed his respect for the decision of Naga City Mayor and former Vice President Leni Robredo not to run in the 2028 national elections. In a social media post, he explained that while he does not agree with her choice, he fully respects it as a personal and political decision.

Pangilinan also shared his belief that if Robredo were to reconsider and respond to public calls to return to national politics, she would be in a strong position to prioritize the country’s best interests. He emphasized that she has the ability to unite not only members of the Liberal Party and its allies but also other political groups and individuals who may participate in the upcoming 2028 elections.

He pointed out that Robredo’s improving survey ratings suggest growing support from politicians, organizations, and even the private sector. According to him, this increasing backing reflects a broader desire among the public for honest leadership, better governance, and stronger accountability in government.

At the same time, Pangilinan raised a concern that Robredo’s decision not to run could leave a gap in leadership within the opposition. He warned that this situation might lead to divisions among opposition groups and other allied political forces, which could weaken their collective strength in the coming elections.

“Now more than ever, our people are crying out for good governance and public accountability,” he said. “I hope I am wrong but Leni’s refusal to run may create a leadership vacuum,” he added.

Despite this concern, he expressed hope that unity would still be achieved among those who share the goal of improving the country’s future. He stressed the importance of working together and putting national interest above personal or group differences.
