Passenger Complains About Rude Taxi Driver in Bacolod

Taxi Driver Allegedly Gets Mad Over Short Trip, Says Passenger

BACOLOD CITY – A passenger took to social media to complain about a taxi driver who allegedly became upset upon learning that their destination was nearby.

According to Princess, the passenger who shared the post, she and her mother boarded a taxi from a mall in Bacolod, heading to 888 Chinatown Square—a location that’s relatively close. Upon hearing the destination, the driver reportedly reacted with irritation, saying, “Ay 888 man lang kamo gali ya? (Oh, you’re just going to 888?)” and sarcastically asked, “Te ma metro pa ko? (Should I still use the meter?)”

Princess’ mother then asked how much the fare would be if the meter wasn’t used, to which the driver responded ₱100. They agreed to the amount. However, Princess claimed that during the ride, the driver continued to grumble, seemingly annoyed that the trip was short.

They told the driver that if he didn’t want to take them, he should not have agreed—especially if he was just going to complain. The situation became more uncomfortable when a child with them reached for the front air conditioning vent. The driver allegedly scolded them, saying, “indi pag hmpangi kay indi kabayad ang plete niyo kung maguba na (Don’t touch that! You won’t be able to pay if it gets damaged!)”

In an interview with DYHB, Princess said they posted about the experience on social media to raise awareness and help protect other passengers from similar treatment. She emphasized that while drivers have the right to refuse a trip under certain conditions, it’s wrong to treat passengers poorly just because the destination is near.

The post gained attention online, with many expressing support for Princess and criticizing the driver’s unprofessional behavior. The incident highlights a recurring issue in public transportation, where passengers are often made to feel unwelcome or guilty for taking short trips—even when they are willing to pay.
