Bong Go Reveals Duterte Takes 27 Medications
BONG GO – The senator revealed that former President Rodrigo Duterte, now 80 years old, takes 27 different medications.
During a Senate Committee on Foreign Relations hearing led by Senator Imee Marcos on Thursday, March 20, Go shared that he personally delivers Duterte’s medicines to his home every week.
“Importante na masiguro ang kaniyang kalusugan dahil 80 years old na po ang dating pangulo pero mukhang hindi ito naisaalang-alang ng awtoridad dahil hindi siya pinayagang pumunta ng ospital ni hindi nadala ang kaniyang mga medisina,” Go said, recalling the incident on March 11 when he was barred from entering Villamor Air Base, where Duterte was taken after his arrest at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
“Alam n’yo po ako ang nagpapadala ng medisina niya sa bahay niya linggo-linggo po ‘yan dahil ‘yan po ang pangako ko sa kaniya noon, bagama’t hindi na siya nakikialam sa akin sa politika, pero sa kaniyang medikal ay ‘yan ang pinangako ko sa kaniya na hindi ko siya pababayaan habambuhay,” Go added.
The senator is now appealing for Duterte to receive his necessary medications while in detention at the International Criminal Court (ICC). “27 po ang kaniyang gamot sana po ay ibigay rin ang kinakailangang gamot at medical attention sa kaniya habang nasa ibang bansa dahil karapatan naman po ito ng bawat tao, constitutional rights po natin ‘yan,” he emphasized.
Go also mentioned that Duterte appeared weak during his appearance before the ICC Pre-Trial Chamber, explaining that this happens when he does not receive the proper medication. “Marami na pong karamdaman si Tatay Digong. Sino namang 80 years old na walang gamot na iniiinom at walang karamdaman. Ayan po ang kinatatakot ko sa ngayon, yong kaniyang kalusugan at kaniyang kaligtasan,” he stated.
It can be recalled that on March 15, Go first revealed that Duterte was reportedly not given his medications upon arriving in The Hague, Netherlands.
