Groom Cancels Wedding After Falling for Wedding Planner

Groom Leaves Bride-to-Be for Wedding Planner

TRUE FEELINGS – A groom ended his engagement and canceled his wedding after realizing he had fallen in love with the man who was helping plan it.

In an anonymous letter to Toronto Star columnist Lisi Tesher, the man shared his story. He and his fiancée had carefully planned their future together, discussing everything from how many children they wanted to where they would live. However, things took a turn when they hired a wedding planner. The moment the groom and the planner met, he felt an undeniable connection and knew deep down that he wasn’t being honest with himself.

As he spent more time with the planner, his fiancée grew suspicious. Before they could invest too much money in the wedding, he made the difficult decision to break up with her. Devastated, his ex refused to speak to him for years. Eventually, she moved on, got married, and had children.

His own journey, however, became complicated. He dated the planner for a while but soon realized he didn’t truly enjoy the lifestyle that came with it. The parties and the fast-paced social scene weren’t what he wanted—he longed for a quiet, family-oriented life. For years, he searched for someone who shared his vision of the future but struggled to find the right partner.

Eventually, he met a widowed woman with two children. She was kind, warm, and seeking companionship. From the start, he was honest with her about his past, and over time, they developed a loving relationship. Now, they are happy together.

Recently, however, he has unexpectedly crossed paths with his ex three times. Each encounter has been tense and uncomfortable, leaving him unsure of how to act. He reached out to Tesher for advice, wondering why he struggles to be friendly with her.

Tesher explained as per philstarlife.com that life is a journey of self-discovery rather than fitting into labels. She acknowledged that his ex likely felt betrayed when he left her for a man, and now, seeing him with a woman and children might be even more confusing for her.

She encouraged him to address the past openly. Ignoring her, she said, is immature. While his ex may not be interested in hearing his story, she might also appreciate his honesty.
