Rufa’s name started making a buzz online after Ogie Diaz first shared in an episode of Showbiz Updates that both Rufa and former senator Manny Pacquiao had reportedly been served arrest warrants. According to Ogie, the two celebrities were linked to the issue through their connections with Dermacare, a company embroiled in an alleged investment scam.
Rufa Mae was an endorser for Dermacare, while Manny Pacquiao had been a franchisee and brand ambassador for the company in 2022. Ogie expressed surprise and disbelief over the news, hoping it wasn’t true, and suggested that Rufa Mae and Manny Pacquiao might not have been aware of the situation. He also mentioned that the matter could be clarified by their respective camps.
Today, Rufa Mae Quinto issued an official statement addressing the recent allegations regarding her involvement in a scam. She categorically denied any connection to fraudulent activities, declaring herself a victim and determined to seek justice. Quinto emphasized her commitment to maintaining her reputation, built on integrity and professionalism. To recall, Neri Naig Miranda, another Dermacare endorser, was arrested on November 23, 2024, in Pasay City. She faces similar charges and is being held at the Pasay City Jail Female Dormitory. While her bail for the estafa charges is set at over PHP 1.7 million, she cannot be granted bail for the syndicated estafa charge she faces, which has led to her detention.
