Malacañang Declines to Comment on Sara Duterte’s Criticism of Bongbong Marcos
NO COMMENT – Malacañang has chosen not to comment on Vice President Sara Duterte’s recent criticisms directed at President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. This decision was conveyed by Acting Secretary Cesar Chavez of the Presidential Communications Office during a press briefing on October 18.
In the press conference, Duterte made several statements regarding Marcos’s presidency, asserting that he would have lost to former Vice President Leni Robredo in the 2022 national elections if he hadn’t engaged the Visayan voters. She rated Marcos a “1 out of 10” for his performance as president, claiming he lacks the necessary skills for the role.
Additionally, Duterte stated that she possesses a list of five impeachable offenses against Marcos, which could potentially lead to his removal from office. This assertion indicates significant tensions between the vice president and the president, despite their previous alliance during the 2022 elections, in which they campaigned together under the UniTeam ticket.
As of the latest updates, Marcos has not issued any public response to Duterte’s remarks.
Sara Duterte also publicly criticized PBBM, claiming he lacks the necessary skills to govern the country effectively. She asserted, “Hindi marunong maging Presidente ang nakaupo,” stating that this was her reason for resigning from the Department of Education (DepEd). She expressed her discontent with what she observed and heard while in the administration, which led to her departure.
Duterte further emphasized her belief that the country lacks a true leader, saying, “Kung presidente niyo siya, okay lang. Ako, hanggang Number Two lang itong bansa na ito, wala itong Number 1 para sa akin.”
During the same press conference, Duterte elaborated on how she became Marcos’ running mate in the 2022 elections. She explained that it was Sen. Imee Marcos, the President’s sister, who encouraged her to run for vice president to create a formidable team against then-Vice President Leni Robredo, who was considered Marcos’ strongest rival.
