BENHUR ABALOS – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary shared unblurred mugshots of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his co-accused on Facebook, including front, side, and full-body shots of Quiboloy, Jackielyn Roy, Ingrid Canada, Cresente Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes. This differs from previous Philippine National Police (PNP) releases where his face was blurred, following Commission on Human Rights (CHR) guidelines.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo explained that the CHR mandates mugshots of suspects, including those of Quiboloy, to be blurred to protect privacy, a protocol followed even for ordinary individuals. This was why his mugshots were initially blurred, similar to the treatment of former Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo. However, the pastor’s legal team requested that his face be covered during media appearances, which the PNP honored as it was within his rights. Guo, on the other hand, wore a face mask during her media appearance.

Quiboloy and his co-accused are currently detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City, where they are adjusting to their conditions. On their first morning, they were provided with a breakfast of hard-boiled eggs, corned beef, rice, and coffee. Fajardo spoke to Quiboloy, who indicated that he was coping well with the situation.

Quiboloy and his group were arrested on September 8, 2024, in Davao City after a series of police operations at his compound. Following a 24-hour ultimatum from the PNP, he surrendered to the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) and was subsequently transferred to Camp Crame. The arrests are part of ongoing legal proceedings related to multiple cases filed against him and his associates.

Meanwhile, Quiboloy will remain at Camp Crame, despite a court directive for his transfer to the New Quezon City Jail. The Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 106 had ordered the transfer of Quiboloy and co-accused Cresente Canada to the jail in Bagong Silangan, Quezon City. Judge Noel Parel also instructed that Quiboloy’s three other co-accused — Jackielyn Roy, Ingrid Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes — be relocated to the Quezon City Jail-Female Dormitory at Camp Karingal.
