Stolen Baby Raised in Hardship Finds Millionaire Parents
ZHANG HUAIYUAN – A man from China, now 33 years old, was stolen as a baby by a doctor who told his parents their child had died. Raised in difficult circumstances by another couple who were unable to conceive, Zhang’s life took a surprising turn when he discovered his true parents were millionaires.
According to GMA Newsfeed, Zhang’s biological mother, Mrs. Li, was taken to a hospital in Zhejiang, China, six months pregnant and told she was about to give birth. The doctor reported the premature baby did not survive, but Zhang’s father insisted they never saw their supposedly deceased child. Mrs. Li, under general anesthesia at the time, was unaware of what had transpired.
Years later, Zhang learned the truth after his adoptive father passed away and his recognized mother confessed everything. With the authorities’ help, Zhang reunited with his biological parents, confirming through DNA that he was indeed their long-lost child.
The reunion was marked by a grand welcome party, where Zhang was gifted over PHP 9.7 million ($187,000) to celebrate their newfound family unity. The report did not mention whether Zhang’s family pursued legal action against the doctor responsible for the initial deception.
Meanwhile, when someone steals a baby, they face serious criminal charges such as kidnapping or child abduction for unlawfully taking a child from their guardian. Charges can also include child trafficking if the baby is exploited for sale or adoption under false pretenses.
Additionally, charges like false imprisonment, fraud for deceitful means used to obtain custody, and forgery for falsifying documents may apply. Interference with custody charges may arise if the offender prevents rightful guardians from exercising custody rights. These charges vary in severity based on jurisdiction, aiming to protect children from exploitation and ensuring the sanctity of family custody rights.
