Proud Father of an LGBTQIA+ member son

PROUD FATHER – A tribute from a member of the LGBTQIA+ community to his father, who is very supportive of his pursuits in life such as joining beauty pageants, has gone viral on social media.

In a TikTok post, Violet Huelar, a gay son from Laguna, shared a video compilation of clips showcasing his experiences in pageants and studies, where his father, Toto, is always supportive.

Some clips in the video include Huelar being crowned by his happy and proud father, his father assisting him off the stage, and his father proudly wearing the medal he received after being a top 5 outstanding student in their school. In the final part of the video, Huelar’s performance is shown while his father, Papa Toto, watches and proudly says, “That’s my child.”

Netizens widely admired and emotionally reacted to the video, highlighting the profound impact of a father’s love and support. They emphasized the confidence and love Violet received from his father, the extraordinary nature of paternal love, and their own aspirations to be supportive parents. Many were moved to tears, noting that such support helps children achieve their best selves. They also expressed a wish for similar acceptance and love for all LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Meanwhile, the LGBTQIA+ community is an inclusive term covering a diverse range of individuals with various sexual orientations and gender identities. The acronym represents Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Intersex, and Asexual, with the plus sign (+) signifying additional orientations and identities.

Lesbians are women who form romantic bonds with other women, while gays are men who do the same with men, and bisexuals can have connections with both genders. Transgender individuals identify differently from their assigned sex at birth, while queer refers broadly to those not identifying as heterosexual or cisgender, and questioning denotes those exploring their orientation or gender.

Intersex people are born with physical traits outside typical male or female definitions, and asexual individuals lack romantic or emotional attraction as others might. The plus encompasses identities like pansexual, genderqueer, and non-binary. This community advocates for the rights, acceptance, and equality of all individuals, regardless of orientation or gender identity.
