Elderly Man Seeks Help After His Home is Destroyed
SENIOR CITIZEN – An elderly man is seeking help from kind-hearted individuals after his home was destroyed.
Recently, Jhun Mark Sismar, a Facebook user, shared his encounter with an elderly man, whose home was destroyed by severe weather. The post quickly circulated online and garnered reactions from the netizens.
On May 20, 2024 (Monday), while walking to work, Jhun Mark noticed an elderly man with a wound on his face. Curious, he approached him and asked, “Tay, unsa mana imong dala?” (Tay, what are you carrying?) Tatay showed him a picture and explained, “Sir, picture mani sa akong balay nga naguba” (Sir, this is a picture of my house that got destroyed).
Sismar was shocked and concerned, wondering how Tatay’s house had been destroyed. The senior citizen explained that his home had been damaged by heavy rain and a storm. Jhun Mark felt tears falling from his face while listening to Tatay’s story.
The uploader handed Tatay P50, as it was all he could spare at the moment. Their conversation was cut short because Jhun Mark had to hurry to work to avoid being late. As he walked to his office, he couldn’t stop thinking about the old man’s situation, especially seeing him outside in the scorching heat.
The latter decided to return to find Tatay after clocking in at work. He found him outside SM Lanang and conducted a brief interview. Tatay revealed that he was from Samal Island and had small children and a wife there. He had come to Davao hoping to find some help.
Before heading home, Jhun Mark gave Tatay some extra cash to help him return to Samal. He expressed his apologies for not being able to do more but hoped that his small contribution would make a difference.

@maksoytv After weeks of contemplating of posting it I already find the courage to share this. Last May 20, 2024 while I was walking on my way sa work nakita nako si Tatay ug nagka sugat ming duha. I sudddenly noticed na naa siyay ginabitbit, so nangutana ko sa iyaha, "Tay, unsa mana imong dala?" He showed me a picture ug niana sya nga "Sir, picture mani sa akong balay nga naguba."
