Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios Cries At Manila ‘Homecoming’ Parade

SHEYNNISS PALACIOS – Here’s the reason why Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios sobbed at her motorcade in Manila.

Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios arrived in Manila on May 1 as part of her Asian tour, having previously visited Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and China. Her departure is scheduled for May 7, with India as her next destination.

During her motorcade at the Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City on May 5th, Sheynnis was overwhelmed with emotion as she was moved to tears by the immense love from her Filipino supporters.

Sheynnis Palacios tears began upon exiting the red SUV that transported her to the parade’s starting point on Pacific Drive. Despite her tears, she maintained a charming smile and waved to the crowd who braved the hot tropical weather to show their support.

Perched atop a flower-decorated convertible adorned with the colors of the Philippine flag, the Nicaraguan beauty radiated regal elegance in a meticulously embellished red ball gown. Throngs of her dedicated admirers eagerly lined the parade route, anticipating a glimpse of her, while the procession echoed with the sounds of a marching band.

The Miss Universe Philippines Organization (MUPH) orchestrated her arrival in Manila and arranged a festive parade dubbed a “homecoming,” symbolizing Palacios’s inclusion as part of the country and offering her a unique experience.

Previously, complications between her national pageant organizers and Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega had impeded her return home after her groundbreaking win as Nicaragua’s first Miss Universe. Moreover, her team encountered obstacles entering the Central American nation.

During the procession, she unveiled a Nicaraguan flag, tears streaming down her face as she clutched it to her chest. Placing the flag delicately on the hem of her gown, she continued to reciprocate the affection of the crowd, who cheered her name and praised her homeland with shouts of “Sheynnis!” and “Nicaragua!” Her expressions of gratitude with “thank you” and “I love you” resonated with appreciation.

The touching scene, recorded on video, spread extensively across social media platforms, including a post from user @bellelustre.

In a gesture of thanks, she expressed appreciation for the warm reception she received in the Philippines, recognizing the country as her new home. Furthermore, she conveyed gratitude for the steadfast support that both she and the Miss Universe Organization have garnered from fans.

“We are more than a beauty pageant, we are the perfect platform for every single woman who want to celebrate every country that we have in our world. And Miss Universe is the platform to celebrate the diversity, the beauty in diversity that exists in our society today,” Sheynnis said.

“It is my mission and my responsibility to represent you, Filipino people, and obviously every single people around the world. It’s a pleasure to be your Miss Universe 2023, and I’m gonna keep working hard to leave a huge legacy for our society. Thank you for believing in me, and to support my dream, because my dream came true thanks to all of you. Gracias, Filipinas (thank you, Philippines),” she continued.

Following this, she ended her short speech with a traditional pageant-style introduction, announcing herself as “Sheynnis Palacios-Cornejo, Nicaragua!” Subsequently, tears welled up in her eyes again, streaming down her cheeks.
