Despite mourning her mother’s passing, Gigi de Lana continued her show in Canada
GIGI DE LANA – The singer continued to fulfill her duty to perform in Canada despite the weight and sadness she carries following her mother’s passing.
Gigi de Lana, born Mary Gidget Orfano dela Llana on September 24, 1995, in Olongapo, Philippines, is a singer and actress. She gained fame through her appearance on the reality talent competition Tawag ng Tanghalan on It’s Showtime. Managed by Rise Artists Studio and Star Magic, she has ventured into both singing and acting, making notable appearances in films and television series.
Gigi’s career highlights include her debut film role in “Four Sisters Before the Wedding” (2020) and her self-titled studio album released in 2022 under Star Music. She has also received recognition in the industry, including awards such as the Bronze Wishclusive Elite Circle at the Wish 107.5 Music Awards (2022) and the Best Female Pop Artist at the Aliw Awards (2023).
In the latest episode of “Showbiz Updates” last Friday, May 24, showbiz insider Ogie Diaz reported about Gigi’s concert in Saskatoon, Canada. According to the message that reached Ogie: “She was really sad throughout the night and the reason she chose not to go home the next day was so she finished her commitments so she can take the earnings to pay for the bills of her mother’s medical bill and the funeral.”
“Talagang ano, kumbaga, the show must go on. Kahit may dinaramdam, may lungkot sa puso ni Gigi nagpaka-professional pa rin siya,” said the showbiz insider. Ogie extended his salute to Gigi for what she did not only for her mother but also for her fans who rely on her. It can be recalled that the singer confirmed the passing of her mother on May 14 through a social media post.
